To help you get started, we encourage students and parents to take advantage of our complimentary consultation. During the consultation, we’ll discuss your interests and goals–and recommend a college planning service to match your specific needs. We look forward to helping you through this process!

Please note: All client sessions will be conducted via in-person meetings*, virtually, or phone conference.

*All in-person meetings will take place in Niagara Falls, NY at a location determined by the Consultant.

College Planning 101

Overview:

This 60-minute session is designed for the student or parent who is seeking general information and advice about the college planning and application process.

Audience:

College Planning 101 is designed for the high school freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior.

Term:

60-minute session.

Please note: College Planning 101 should not be considered a substitute for the various college planning services or packages we offer students and parents who are focused on specific phases of the college planning and application process.

Countdown to College for High School Seniors

Overview:

If you’re looking for the total package, Countdown to College for High School Seniors covers it all! This comprehensive package takes students and parents through the entire college planning and application process including:

  • Assessment of academic record (strength of curriculum, college preparatory courses, SAT/ACT test scores, and overall grades)
  • Review of testing schedule for standardized tests
  • Identify a list of recommended target, reach, and safety schools that match the interests, abilities, goals, and needs of the student
  • Analysis of student’s interest, abilities, needs, and priorities in the college search
  • Advice and assistance on planning effective college visits
  • Preparation for college interviews
  • Extracurricular activities- Brag Sheet, resume guidance, and review
  • Strategies for requesting Letters of Recommendation
  • Brainstorming ideas, and proofreading essays for grammar, spelling, and clarity prior to submission.
  • Thorough review of The Common Application and other school applications prior to submission
  • Consultation on final college choice after acceptance
  • Navigate the college orientation and registration process
  • Transitioning to college strategies (roommates, classes, communication, safety, health, etc.)

This package is offered to high school seniors.

Term:

The approximate duration of this service is 10-months. It is suggested that service begin in mid to late summer before senior year.

College Essay Development & Review

Overview:

The college essay is one of the most important pieces in the college application process! Let Booker College Planning help you find your voice while brainstorming ideas, and proofreading essays for grammar, spelling, and clarity prior to submission. Whether it’s a Common Application essay, personal statement or supplemental essay, this aspect of the college application should not be underestimated — as they can be the deciding factor for admission.

Audience:

College Essay Development & Review is designed for high school seniors.

Term:

Our professional editors will review your essay or personal statement, and provide comprehensive feedback and recommendations within 72-hours of receiving your uploaded document.

Please note: Only one essay or personal statement per submission.




College Application Preparation & Review

Overview:

Looking to submit a strong application that will help you improve your admission opportunities? Let a Booker College Planning consultant help! During each session, we’ll conduct a thorough review of your Common Application and other school applications prior to submission, avoiding any red flags that could jeopardize your chances of gaining admission into college. In addition, we’ll help you develop and organize a “task list,” that includes due dates— to ensure that you comply with required deadlines established by each college.

According to the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), students are required to submit the following application items:

  • Personal and Educational Data (i.e. name, address, phone number, email, citizenship and residency information, high schools you have attended, college credits you have earned, parental information, senior year schedule, and standardized test scores)
  • Honors and Awards
  • Extracurricular, Personal, and Volunteer Activities
  • Employment, Internships, and Summer Activities (Some colleges allow a resume to be submitted in the activity section of their application)
  • Essays, both short answer and a longer personal essay
  • Disciplinary Information
  • Application Fee
  • Signature
  • For certain majors, students may be required to audition or asked to submit a portfolio of artistic work

Audience:

This service is designed for high school seniors who are in the final stages of completing applications to their selected colleges. Not all colleges require the same documentation.

Term:

Purchase a pre-paid, three-hour block of time to be used towards completing application(s) prior to required deadlines established by each college.




College Planning and Readiness Seminar

Overview:

The College Planning and Readiness Seminar will teach students how to successfully navigate the college planning process. All aspects of the college planning process are covered, including but not limited to:

  • High school preparation
  • Career exploration
  • Selecting a college
  • College planning timeline
  • College visitations
  • The college application process
  • College essay writing
  • Financial aid / scholarships

Outcome:

This workshop will prepare students for the transition from high school to college.

Audience:

The College Planning and Readiness Seminar is designed for a wide range of groups, including but not limited to: high school students, charter schools, after-school programs, and summer youth programs.

Term:

90-minute classroom or virtual session.

Group Size:

A maximum of 25 participants to allow for a more personalized experience. Webinars will allow for a maximum of 100 participants.
